Katy’s defense shines again

Katy proved themselves yet again on Thursday, October 26 in a match against fellow Texas high school, Morton Ranch.  From the opening kickoff, the Tigers controlled the entire game.

In the first quarter, Katy put up 14 points and only allowed a field goal from the Mavericks.  From there, Katy went on to shut out Morton Ranch for the rest of the game and score another 14 points to end the game with a 28-3 lead.

The most commendable aspect in Katy’s play was their defense.  In their first three games, Morton Ranch score 59, 29, and 49 points, blowing away their opposition.  Katy was able to hold the Maverick’s offensive power to just a field goal.

This is the second time the Tigers have held their opponents to three points.  On top of that, already Katy has two shut outs in the books.  In fact, the Tigers have allowed an astonishing 20 total points in their opening five games.

Offensively, Katy’s tactics for the game were easy:  give the ball to Kyle Porter.  The sophomore running back was unstoppable on Thursday, carrying the ball 29 times for a total of 164 yards and three touchdowns.

Following their 5-0 record in the first five games, Katy finally takes a break.  After two weeks off, the Tigers face Katy Taylor High School on October 11 at 7:00p.  Currently sitting in 6th place in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings, Katy prepares to extend their record to 6-0.

Key Player:

Kyle Porter 29 carries, 164 yards, 3 TD
